Diving in Thailand – How Much Does it Cost?
This question has many answers, like ‘how long is a piece of string?” or “how deep is a hole?” there is no single answer for the cost of diving. We are based in Phuket and we offer all kinds of Thailand diving options from day trips to week-long liveaboards. You can find all the updated prices here on our website. There are scuba diving packages to suit all budgets.
Day Trip Diving
From Phuket we have Daily Dive Tours for certified divers to Phi Phi, the King Cruiser Wreck, Racha Yai and Racha Noi Islands and (in high season) to the Similan Islands. The cost for a day trip starts at 3,200 Baht for 2 dives and 3,900 Baht for 3 dives. Rental dive equipment is 300 Baht for a set (BCD, Regulator, Wetsuit, Mask, Fins) if you are traveling without your own gear. Dive computer 200 Baht and diving insurance is available for only 150 Baht per day. There are also day trips for non-certified divers – you can take a Discover Scuba Diving trip with prices from 4,500 Baht all inclusive.
Learning to Dive in Phuket
How much does it cost to learn to dive in Phuket? Well, as noted above you can do 1 day Discover trips, but that’s not a full certification. The Open Water Diver Course takes 3 days including at least 4 dives with price from 12,900 Baht. If you want something at a lower cost, the 2 day Scuba Diver Course is available from 11,000 Baht. Liveaboard Diving
How much does a Thailand scuba diving liveaboard cost? Well, there really are all kind of Liveaboards in Thailand and the cost varies from backpacker prices up to luxury! The lowest cost liveaboard we offer in Thailand is a 2 day / 7 dive Similan Islands trip for 13,900 Baht. The cost for a 4 night trip can be as low as 24,000 Baht, up to 64,000 Baht. Liveaboards depart from Phuket or Khao Lak to the Similan islands and Richelieu Rock, and there are also some trips into the Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar. Mandarin Queen Liveaboard Diving
The diving season for the Similan Islands is from late October through to early May. The diving varies from gently sloping coral reefs to deep rocky gorges and dizzying landscapes. In general, the East coast dive sites are hard coral reef dives, with some soft corals and a huge variety and abundance of marine life. The diving is fairly relaxed, with weak/moderate currents and 20 – 30m visibility the norm.
